Today, in this article, I want to share with you my water fasting results I experienced last year, that I hope will inspire you.

I’ve never thought that one day in my life I would be doing a water fasting diet for a whole week.

For me, to only imagine I would be eating nothing at all a whole day was something really out of this world but when I did it, I didn’t die (luckily) as some regular people think.

Instead, I felt reinvigorated and healthier than before.

Why I Started Water Fasting?

Well, a few years ago, I followed a medium carb low-fat diet called the Weighless Program.

Personally, I won’t call it a diet. Instead, it was a healthy way of eating.

I ditched everything that contributed to my weight gain such as fast food, unhealthy salty cakes, deep-fried foods, and soft drinks.

Long story short, I lost 41 pounds in 7 months, which I know is slow for some people.

But what I loved about this low carb diet is that you are able to lose weight week after week without starving yourself.

That thing worked! Slowly but it worked and I was able to get rid of my 41 pounds of extra fat. I went from 76.7kgs to 58kgs and I have been sitting at my new weight for almost two years.

And then I started taking back some weight. Not because the program wasn’t good but I started eating some junk foods again…Shame on me I know!

So, I wanted to know how to lose that excess weight as fast as I could.

I started researching about the different and safe ways to lose weight fast.

I stumbled upon water fasting, also known as the zero diet. Frankly, it was a tough decision for me because I simply love eating, and to only imagine I would cut down on everything except water was a bit scary.

But this was the best decision I made to get back to my ideal weight again.

    How I Started Water Fasting?

    Firstly, I prepared myself mentally.

    When you do something that drastic for the first time, you’ve gotta get prepared in your mind otherwise you could quit before you even get started.

    I needed to be super conscious of the fact that I won’t be eating any food for a whole week

    This was a huge step for me, for my health, for my weight loss progress and I was ready to take that big step.

    On my very first day of fasting, I woke up, took a cup of tea, and then I started my routine for the day.

    Fortunately, I work at home.

    So, even though I felt a bit weak during the day, I could just take a rest and get back to work after.

    I had 3 bottles of water ready to attack my very first day of water fasting. Basically, each time I felt hungry, I just had one or two glasses of water.

    And then it was noon, time for lunch but I had to drink water only and I was proud that I didn’t even think about having lunch.

    I started fasting on a Monday and the next day, I was down by 2.8kgs. And it went like this for the next days until I lost 10kgs.

    I went from 67kgs to 57kgs in just seven 7 days. You can see the results in my cheeks HA!

    My Water Fasting Results

    One of the very super sensational feelings I’ve experienced after 7 days of drinking water only (besides weight loss) was that I felt reinvigorated. It was like I came back from holidays LOL

    I was more energetic than before, I felt healthier and I was more motivated to exercise. So, after a few days, I started jogging for 1 hour every morning.

    I didn’t crave for chocolates, pastries, or any of these stuff and was more focused on preparing healthy salads for lunch.

    Weight Loss

    Since there was no calorie entering my body, my ketone bodies were getting higher and because of this, my body’s source of energy was not glucose anymore.

    Instead, my body looked out for energy directly from my fat storage. Because my body was now in a ketosis state, I was able to burn fat much faster than a typical low carb diet. That’s why I lost 22 pounds in just one week.

    Natural Detoxification

    During a fasting period, our liver is triggered to pull all toxins out of your body. And I could feel the improvement in my body and health although I have any health issues.

    Rejuvenation

    When your body is clean of toxins, your organism is like new.

    As my body got cleansed during this week of fasting, I could really feel a boost in my energy level. I was more motivated to exercise and I started jogging for 1 hour every day.

    It’s not something I can explain but I was way more productive, more focused, and more concentrated in my work.

    So, here’s my water fasting results that I hope will motivate you.

    Water fasting is a healthy and safe way to lose weight fast.

    However, it’s good to consult your doctor if you have health issues, minor or major, before starting a water fasting diet.

    1. water fasting has biblical connection as well. Im currently on my second day. Now during this covid 19 situation and staring at the fridge all day I thought about doing this during Holy week.
      It is not for the faint at heart literally. I have rollercoaster of energy boost then feeling dizzy after standing up too fast. But other than that I pray and drink water everytime hunger strikes and feel a difference in my waistline. Heres to three more days.

        1. Hi Zainab. Of course you can eat food but I suggest you start gradually with your carbs. When I restarted eating after my 7 days of water fasting, I ate around 2 portions of carbs per day (70g per portion) + my protein and veggies.

        Sure you can. Tea is 99% water, so a cup of tea in the morning won’t affect your weight loss 🙂

      1. Yeah you can do that. But you can add sugar if it’s only one or two coffee cups per day. That won’t make you gain weight.

    2. Hi, this sound interesting, I really wanna try this but I believe you can’t do it if you are working coz you need energy, it must be done at home where you can rest if needs be. Am I right?

      1. Yeah I recommend you do it while not working. When you work, you need energy and when fasting you don’t have that much energy. So it’s better to stay at rest and let the pounds drop by themselves hehe

      I am on my first day, and I am a muscular 59KG.
      Fat loss is my goal, I want to reduce waistline further (Currently 72cm). I am drinking black coffee in the morning and herbal tea throughout the day.
      I also added vitamins and sodium/minerals in my water and I find that helps to suppress hunger.
      My longest water fast was 3 days and I am pushing it 7 days to train my mind.

        So, as soon as I wake up I got my self a cup of tea. And then throughout the day, I had 3L of water.

            Well, you can have a cup of tea or coffee in the morning to give a quick boost but no diet soda.

          2. hi, i usually have coffee in the morning with sweetners as there is no calories in them and milk with my coffe would that be okay or would it affect it, i only have 1 a day in the morning

        1. I didn’t exercise intensively. I normally do jogging and slight workouts almost everyday. Exercising is recommended when doing water fasting or intermittent fasting.

    4. I want to do this but I’m 17 years old and I get really hungry is it ok if I eat ONLY fruits as well if I feel like some days I want to quit I eat just a piece of fruit.

        At this age, I would say it depends.

        You’re growing up, your body goes through constant changes to adulthood and you need a balanced diet to avoid future issues.

        What are you struggling with right now? Excess weight or just a few extra pounds?

      1. You mean after water fasting? You’ll enter ketosis state faster when doing the water fasting since your body’s main source of energy will switch to fats. So, yeah you can start keto after that.

      1. I don’t recommend you to do water fasting at this age. You’re in a period where you need essential nutrients for proper and safe growth.

        You can start by cutting down on your carb intake and sugar, eat more fruits and veggies, lots of water and working out slightly.

        It depends on you. I usually recommend doing a zero diet to my clients when they’re at home. When working, you need to have the necessary energy.

        Well, during fasting you’ll automatically lose salt and what I can suggest is to dissolve around ½tsp of sea salt in a big glass of water and take it during every day of your fasting period, not after the fasting.

      1. Sure you will get results. As long as you’re cutting down on carbs, sugar and other things, your weight will automatically drop. 🙂

      1. One glass or two glasses with lemon is ok. (Maybe your first glass and your evening intake)

        It’s not wise to take 2L-3L of water with lemon every day because of citric acid in lemons. Too much can cause heartburn or damage tooth enamel.

    11. hi, im 12 years old, and i really want to lose some weight, is it safe for me to do this? im 132.28 pounds and im 5’2. is it ok for me to do it?
